Wastewater Treatment

MUNICIPAL SEWAGE WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Ekosystem spol. s r.o. offers a wide range of standardized equipment for treating municipal sewage wastewater. Our products range from simple equipment for holiday facilities (cesspit, septic tank with finishing), to domestic wastewater treatment plants for up to 50 EI (MČA, MČA SBR, MČA MBR standardized domestic plants), to container plants sized from 50 to 200 EI sold under the brand name EKOKOM. We offer concrete standardized EKOKOM plants for sizes 200 to 2000 EI; larger sizes are designed based on customer requirements. In addition to these standardized units, we offer numerous other products, such as products for mechanical wastewater pre-treatment (grease traps, sand traps, rack catchers, screen boxes), wastewater pumping stations, chemical phosphorus precipitation systems, flow metering devices, GSM failure reports, and oxygen probes. This helps us satisfy a wide range of customer requirements and demands.

Septic tank with finishing

This version is designed for holiday facilities with irregular wastewater production, with up to several months of zero wastewater input. It is a simple device that consumes no electricity. There are two alternative designs of the finishing treatment: either as an anaerobic flooded biofilter or as filtering through an earth or soil filter.

MČA line of domestic treatment plants

MČA domestic treatment plants are designed for biological treatment of wastewater from single-family houses, apartment units, guesthouses, holiday facilities, hotels, and small businesses up to 50 EI.
MČA
A conventional domestic treatment plant with a flow-through system, biological treatment with low-load activated sludge, and separation of treated wastewater in a settling tank. The equipment includes a primary tank with an accumulation area to intercept surge influxes of wastewater from washing machines, dishwashers, and wash tubs.

The plant has a CE certificate and complies with legislative requirements on reporting of wastewater discharge into surface water, Class I. If you require discharge into groundwater, phosphorus or ammonia nitrogen treatment, please contact an Ekosystem salesperson.
MČA SBR
The SBR (sequencing batch reactor) domestic treatment plant is based on wastewater treatment and separation of treated wastewater in time-separated stages in a single tank. The biological treatment is based on a low-load activation system.
The plant has a CE certificate and complies with legislative requirements on reporting of wastewater discharge into surface water (Classes I, II, III) and into groundwater (Class PZV). For Classes III and PZV, a plant version with chemical phosphorus precipitation has to be purchased.

MČA MBR
A conventional domestic treatment plant with a flow-through system, biological treatment with low-load activated sludge, and separation of treated wastewater by filtering through MBR membranes. The equipment includes a primary tank with an accumulation area to intercept surge influxes of wastewater from washing machines, dishwashers and wash tubs. Filtering of treated water through the MBR membrane guarantees virtually zero concentration of suspended solids, making the plant ideal for installations where the treated water is to be reused as utility water.

The plant has a CE certificate and complies with legislative requirements on reporting of wastewater discharge into surface water, Class I. If you require discharge into groundwater, phosphorus or ammonia nitrogen treatment, please contact an Ekosystem salesperson.

EKOKOM treatment plants

EKOKOM wastewater treatment plants are mechanical-biological plants designed primarily for municipal sewage wastewater treatment in small and medium-sized settlements and local sources of contamination, such as guesthouses, holiday facilities, fuel filling stations, etc.
The treatment technology is based on standard processes using commonly available process equipment. The technology is based on long-term, low-load sludge activation with partial stabilization. The equipment has an RDN process arrangement with nitrification, timed denitrification, and independent regeneration. The treated wastewater is separated in a final settling tank with vertical flow. The excess sludge is stored and stabilized in a separate sludge reservoir. The inclusion of the regeneration stage increases the amount of activated sludge in the treatment plant and stabilizes the treatment process during surge influxes of wastewater, which are characteristic of this plant size.
EKOKOM 55 – 200 container treatment plants
For sizes between 55 and 200 EI, EKOKOM treatment plants are supplied as plastic container tanks. The tanks are designed for embedding in concrete grout, and their dimensions have been optimized for transporting on ordinary lorries.
EKOKOM 350 – 2000 concrete treatment plants
For sizes between 200 and 2000 EI, EKOKOM treatment plants are supplied as process equipment deliveries for installation in monolithic concrete tanks.
As per customer request or requirements for treated water quality, this basic system can be extended with non-standard accessories, mechanical pre-treatment (grease traps, sand traps, mechanical and manual rack catchers, screen boxes), wastewater pumping stations, chemical phosphorus precipitation systems, flow metering using inductance gauges or metering troughs, GSM failure reports, oxygen metering in the activation tank, filtering of treated water through the MBR membrane, mobile pool roofing, and other accessories.

In addition to this standardized equipment, we also design and implement upgrades and refurbishment of existing treatment plants.

INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Due to the diversity of composition of industrial wastewater, the treatment process cannot be described straightforwardly. Treating the wastewater to parameters set by legislation and water management permits issued by the respective water management authorities always requires a package of methods.
As for the most common composition of wastewater processed chemically, the wastewater can be divided into the following categories, for which the basic treatment processes used by EKOSYSTEM, spol. s r.o. are listed.

 

  • alkaline/acidic wastewater containing metals: produced in various manufacturing industries such as galvanizing, machinery, tannery, textile, etc. (pH adjustment, precipitation, sedimentation, filtering);
  • alkaline/acidic wastewater (pH adjustment in continuous or semi-continuous systems);
  • wastewater containing cyanides: produced by galvanizing (oxidation using alkaline agents or transformation to stable complexes, e.g., precipitation with iron);
  • wastewater containing oxidizing or reducing substances (oxidation, reduction, precipitation, filtering);
  • wastewater containing dispersed substances (sedimentation, filtering, coagulation, membrane separation – micro, ultra and nano-filtering, reverse osmosis);
  • wastewater containing fats and petroleum derivatives (gravity separation, sorption, coagulation);
  • wastewater containing fluorides (precipitation, filtering);
  • wastewater containing sulphides (precipitation, oxidation, filtering);
  • wastewater containing complex-forming substances (precipitation, reduction, oxidation, ion exchange);
  • wastewater containing ammonia (oxidation, precipitation).

Industrial wastewater treatment has many specific aspects, with key roles played by the amount of wastewater and its production timetable, as well as its composition and set limits. It is obvious that the design cannot follow an established pattern; instead, all the conditions on-site are considered, and the water management system is designed as a whole with regard to waste generation, composition and further processability.
